Pastoral Counselling

Integrating psychology and theology to discover authenticity, heal losses, and become more fully alive.

Whole-person therapy for healing and growth

When we experience safety, connection, and authenticity we naturally grow. However, losses, ruptures, and traumas, that are left unresolved, can create unhealthy coping strategies and unwanted symptoms.

My approach combines evidence-based psychological interventions, empathetic person-centered counselling, and theological frameworks.

We will work collaboratively to discover both the roots and resolutions of the challenges and symptoms that brought you into counselling.

Three important treatment approaches…

Trauma, relationship & resilience

The therapeutic relationship

Trauma happens when our experiences overwhelm our ability to cope. Resilience and growth occur as we develop our inner resources and connect to external support. Safe, empathetic, collaborative relationships provide both external support and a safe place to explore and strengthen our inner life.

Emotion & Experience

Experience & Emotion in therapy

Emotions help us make meaning of our experiences, motivate ourselves, and connect with others. Losing touch with our feelings, or being overwhelmed by them, can lead to difficulties and symptoms. Emotion Focused Therapy can help you experientially discover and affirm your needs, values, and boundaries

Spiritual Frameworks

Spiritual frameworks in therapy

Humans ask existential questions like: Who am I? What is my purpose? Suffering increase the urgency of these questions. Integrating spiritual frameworks into therapy helps discover answers to these questions – whatever they are for you – and offers a rich source of knowing, meaning, and purpose.

Do I have to be Spiritual?

No. You choose exactly what you would like to bring up in counselling. Pastoral counsellors able to attend to your mental, emotional, and/or spiritual wellbeing. I will work with and respect your belief systems.
